The top local coffee shops in Nashville’s SoBro neighborhood

Written by Lauren Seagren | January 9

Nashville's coffee scene is brewing with awesomeness, and we’re thrilled to spill the beans on some of our favorite spots in Nashville’s SoBro neighborhood. This bustling and trendy area is packed with unique coffee shops and cafés, perfect for providing you with an energy boost before exploring the city. So, make the most of your stay by discovering the perfect local blend of must-visit cafés and can’t-miss coffee shops to fuel up for the day ahead. Don’t worry, be frappé!

1. Crema Coffee Roasters

At the top of our list, dripping in wood-panels and industrial-chic decor is Crema Coffee Roasters. Crema is a carbon-neutral, zero-waste coffee roaster, and women-owned café that serves up some of the best coffee in the city. Sip on a satisfying coffee blend, grab a cappuccino, or try a tea latte at this must-visit coffee shop in SoBro.

They even have specialty drinks with their current fall-appropriate Pumpkin Pie Latte and a flat white made with fennel and rosemary infused with maple syrup. As they also offer a small breakfast menu, this coffee shop is perfect for a light bite too with fresh dishes like avocado toast and seasonal quiche.

2. Café Intermezzo

Located inside Placemakr Premier SoBro, Café Intermezzo is a European-style coffeehouse overflowing with a variety of caffeine-boosting coffee specialties, chilled coffees, cappuccinos and lattes, and even coffees with alcohol. European pastries are on display all day and breakfast options are available until the evening when you can grab a late-night appetizer or meal with a glass of wine or cocktail. Step into a different time and place when you visit Café Intermezzo in SoBro!

3. Bongo Java

Bongo Java is Nashville's oldest and most celebrated coffee company. Their skilled baristas take immense pride in their craft, diligently serving up freshly brewed, locally roasted coffee, alongside a delightful selection of handcrafted espresso beverages and delectable baked goods throughout the day. With humble beginnings in 1993 as a single café, they have blossomed into a network of five cafés and two thriving wholesale enterprises, proudly providing 100% Certified Organic coffee and gourmet baked goods.

4. Frothy Monkey

Frothy Monkey is more than just a café; it's a place where coffee is treated as an art. With multiple locations in Nashville, Franklin, Chattanooga, and Knoxville, as well as Birmingham, Alabama, the Frothy Monkey prides itself on being your neighborhood all-day café and go-to spot for specialty coffee, delicious food, and a warm atmosphere.

From breakfast and brunch, served daily until 5, to their kids' menu, baked good items, and lunch and dinner options, they’ve got something for everyone. With menu features of carefully crafted dishes made from scratch and ingredients sourced from local farmers and purveyors whenever possible.

As a specialty coffee roaster and beloved institution in Nashville often recognized as the “Best Coffee Shop” by customers and publications, Frothy Money is renowned for their meticulous attention to quality and ethically sourced coffee beans. On top of their weekly café specials, they also host a free weekly coffee tasting experience (Weekly Public Coffee Cuppings) and even dabble in alcoholic beverages with their Wine Down Wednesdays and daily happy hour from 3-6 pm with beer, wine, and cocktails.

5. E+Rose Wellness Café

With a belief that healthy food is at the core of your best self and a mission to inspire wellness from within, E+Rose Wellness Café is our last spot on the list. The winner for Nashville’s “Best Juice Bar” and “Best Smoothie/Smoothie Bowl” by Nashville Scene’s Best of Nashville 2023, E+Rose Wellness Café is a health food restaurant developed with the health and satisfaction of others in mind. Their menu offers vegan eats, superfood smoothies, açaí bowls, and organic cold-pressed juices – all made with natural, whole ingredients.

When it comes to coffee, all their organic made-to-order coffee is 100% plant-based with no dairy whatsoever, no refined sugar, and no artificial sweeteners, flavorings, or coloring. Their beans are sourced from honorable mention Humphreys Street Coffee (Downtown and Wedgewood-Houston locations), a nearby nonprofit organization that provides pathways out of poverty for South Nashville youth by creating local job opportunities. All of E+Rose’s coffee is roasted, produced, and packaged by students in the program to ensure that the beans they use are fair trade, ethically sourced, and locally roasted. To top it off, their blends, specialty coffees, and teas offer a wide range of delicious flavors that can’t be missed.

They frequently offer seasonal special—a recent example was ‘The Basic B*tch Latte’ made with espresso, plant-based milk, and their house pumpkin sauce with real pumpkin, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, turmeric, vanilla, coconut milk, and maple syrup.
